Celebrating 30 Years of Open Space: Larimer County Launches ’30 and Thriving’ Campaign for Local Residents

Larimer County, Colorado, is marking 30 years of conservation work with the ’30 and Thriving’ campaign. This campaign recognizes the 30th anniversary of the Help Preserve Open Spaces (HPOS) 0.25-cent sales tax, which voters approved in 1995. The tax has helped protect more than 64,000 acres of open space, create over 100 miles of trails, and invest $355 million in the community.

The ’30 and Thriving’ campaign encourages residents to learn about the county’s natural areas and the people involved in their preservation. The website larimerdnr-30andthriving.org offers a digital timeline of the HPOS program and a ’30 Years, 30 Stories’ series. A new story will be published each week for 30 weeks.

Community members can also join the ‘Notes to Nature’ collection by sharing their experiences and memories of Larimer County’s open spaces. These stories will be posted online to highlight the region’s landscapes over the past thirty years…
