Sweetgrass Soapery to shift business away from downtown storefront

A downtown store that offers bath and beauty products and Native American beadwork will close before Christmas but continue offering its line of handcrafted wares online and at vendor events.

Sweetgrass Soapery and All Walks Trading Co. opened in March 2021 at 319 N. Main Ave. Owner Miranda Koltze said that closing the storefront will give her more time to make Sweetgrass’ small-batch herbal care products such as soaps and bath bombs using herbs, essential oils and in-house rendered fats.

“We love our location, and it’s just perfect for us in every way except I didn’t have a space to make while I was at the shop,” Koltze said. “It hurt my production time. I prefer to be making my products and handling my own first business.”

Koltze also wanted more time with her family.

In an announcement on Facebook, she wrote: “My priorities have really shifted, and I am valuing my peace, my family time and my slow intentional methods of making medicine. I have learned that being tethered to the shop is not my goal.”…
