Charlotte Man Charged with Felony Insurance Fraud over $81K Dodge Charger Claim

A Charlotte man finds himself on the wrong side of the law after allegedly attempting to fraud the system for nearly $81,000, as reported by the North Carolina Department of Insurance. Justin Chidozie Nwachukwu, 29, of Alanbrook Road, has been slapped with insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretense charges, both of which are felonies.

According to the Department of Insurance, Nwachukwu’s accusations stem from an illicit insurance claim concerning the theft of his 2021 Dodge Charger on which, not only did he provide allegedly false and contradictory statements to special agents and National General but, the vehicle’s parts were found installed in another car under his use. Compounding his legal woes, the claim led to a hefty insurance payout of $80,881.87, which also covered the car’s loan lien.

These alleged deceptive maneuvers didn’t go unnoticed for long, with the debacle unfolding between October and November 2023. Justice didn’t drag its feet, and Nwachukwu got cuffed on November 7, 2023, he was denied bond, and a court appearance is set for November 24 at the Randolph County District Court…
