RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WACH) — The Richland County Sheriff’s Department identified Steven Townsend, 32, as the suspect in an armed carjacking reported just after 7 a.m. on Saturday.
Authorities charged Townsend with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and additional charges are expected.
The victim reported that Townsend held them at gunpoint and stole their Lexus before leaving at high speed in the 200 block of Blythewood Road, deputies said. The Lexus was found abandoned and disabled near the 1600 block of Beltline Boulevard…
