High Point Council member Amanda Cook to replace Cecil Brockman in NC House seat

The Guilford County Democratic Party has nominated High Point Council member Amanda Cook to replace former Rep. Cecil Brockman in the N.C. House of Representatives.

Cook, a former public school teacher who founded a nonprofit for teacher development, has served on High Point’s council since 2023. She will replace Brockman, who resigned in October, weeks after being charged with sex crimes involving a minor, The News & Observer reported.
