Man charged with kidnapping woman, child at gunpoint

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — According to U.S. Marshals, members of the Memphis Safe Task Force arrested a man who they say kidnapped a woman and her child at gunpoint in Southeast Memphis.

Jail records show 36-year-old Tyrus Braddox was arrested and charged on Friday with two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping, two counts of aggravated assault, theft of property, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.

Memphis police were called to a kidnapping in the 3700 block of Maulden Dr. in the Whitehaven neighborhood. Officers were told that a woman and her nine-year-old son was “taken” by her boyfriend in a Chevrolet Trailblazer.

Officers were able to gain location information on the SUV and found the woman in the 5000 block of Hickory Hill Rd…
