New VA center hits key milestone in construction with ‘topping-off ceremony’

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A milestone was reached this week in the construction of a new El Paso VA Health Care Center.

On Thursday, Nov. 13, the El Paso VA, along with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Clark Construction Group and SmithGroup+HKS, held a “topping-off” ceremony of its structural framework with the last and highest beam placed on the building’s structure.

The new VA health care center is being built on a 36-acre site at Fort Bliss, near the new William Beaumont Army Medical Center.

The state-of-the-art, energy-efficient facility spans 492,995 gross square feet and is designed to enhance outpatient services for veterans, the VA said…
