Bodycam footage shows Houston police shooting of suspect who barricaded himself in apartment

HOUSTON — Houston police released body camera footage Friday showing an officer-involved shooting that occurred last month when a suspect allegedly barricaded himself inside a vacant apartment and set items on fire.

The incident took place on October 27 at Alegria Apartments when officers responded to a burglary call. Police typically release body camera footage within 30 days of an incident.

According to the footage, officers arrived at the scene and spoke with a security guard who explained that a man had burglarized the leasing office and was now barricaded inside an empty apartment. The guard told officers the suspect had also set some things on fire inside the unit…
