A demonstration at the Broadview Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility was held recently, led by a multi-faith coalition of religious leaders. The protest, however, was met with a strong police presence and allegations of violence. The Mayor of Broadview, Katrina Thompson, released a statement accusing the protestors of brutalizing the police and labeling them as “Out-of-Towners”. However, an eyewitness account from a participant paints a different picture, alleging police violence against peaceful faith leaders, many of whom are local residents.
