There will be some new rules for nonprofits seeking grants from the Bossier City government next year.
A new ordinance set to take effect establishes a financial reporting requirement that will mandate organizations detail their expenditures and outcomes to the city by the end of each fiscal year if they get public funds. It also requires them to sign three-year cooperative endeavor agreements and outlines a funding application process that asks them to justify the public benefit of the grant.
The measure also sets a new cap on the money the city can distribute to nonprofits in a year — no more than $20,000 can go to any one nonprofit, and total spending is capped at 0.5% of the city’s general fund budget, which would work out to roughly $400,000 under the 2026 budget of $80,462,406…
