AUSTIN (KXAN) — Over the next week, the task force helping craft what may be in the city of Austin’s 2026 bond package is hosting several listening sessions to better understand what Austinites may want to see in that ask of taxpayers.
Those listening sessions will happen:
- Nov. 15: 6-8 p.m. at the Gus Garcia Recreation Center
- Nov. 18: 6-8 p.m. virtually
- Nov. 20: 6-8 p.m. at the Rudy Mendez Recreation Center
That conversation is coming on the heels of Austin’s tax rate election — Proposition Q — failing by a wide margin.
“This is a conversation that we’re going to have as a council to figure out what is the community asking for…what does the community want…and what are they willing to support?” Austin City Council Member Ryan Alter said when asked how the city would need to pitch a bond to voters after Prop Q failed.

That was something the bond advisory task force also brought up during its meeting last month…
