A cold front tracked through the Central Plains this morning. Highs today, even with the wind shift out of the north, were quite warm for this time of year in the 60s and 70s. We had a few 80s near the Oklahoma state line.
We will cool to the upper 30s in the northwest outside of town and 40s elsewhere into Sunday morning. Drier air working into the region will eliminate a major concern for fog tonight.
High pressure will shift to the east and we will return to a southerly flow tomorrow. Highs will be cooler than Saturday but still well above the norm in the upper 60s to the lower 70s. Sunshine favors the day before added cloud cover Sunday night.
A storm system will track through the state on Monday. The atmosphere will try to moisten and form areas of drizzle late Sunday night into Monday from west to east. Better rainfall amounts will be well north and east of our viewing area.
Temperatures warm further on Monday with many more reaching the 70s and then dropping a hair to the 60s on Tuesday.
A much stronger storm system with a better moisture supply is on deck Wednesday into Thursday. Southeast Kansas could see the first wave of rain on Wednesday before the bulk of the energy and moisture move in on Thursday.
Any leftovers will shift east on Friday. There will be a temperature shift by the end of next week to the cooler side. Highs drop to the 40s and 50s and overnights turn frosty into the following weekend.
