Underground explosion causes power outage in downtown Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — An underground explosion in downtown Salt Lake City caused a power outage Saturday morning, according to Salt Lake City Fire.

At around 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning, Nov. 15, Salt Lake City authorities received multiple calls regarding an explosion.

“Some manhole covers were lifted off and some fire coming from the vaults,” Cpt. Chad Jepperson, Salt Lake City Fire, said. “These are electrical vaults. Rocky Mountain Power is investigating the cause of them right now.”…
