As the Newburgh Heights community recovers from a violent road-rage incident, authorities are on the hunt for an African American woman accused of shooting a man during morning rush hour traffic on Interstate 77 on Wednesday. According to cleveland.com, the altercation escalated when one driver, now identified as John Centers, was cut off and subsequently shot by the female driver of a silver Ford Fusion.
Centers, who was traveling with his wife, Rachael Stapleton, and two-year-old daughter, Rae, recounted to FOX8 News, “I had a Tesla in front of me, so I started slowing down because traffic was slowing down, and she came around me and then cut off in front of me, brake-checked me, almost had me go into the wall three different times.” His described assailant is said to be in her 30s, heavy-set, with braids, and was wearing a do-rag during the incident.
In a harrowing account, Centers told FOX8 News that the bullet went through the car door and lodged in his backside, narrowly missing his daughter’s car seat due to his seat being pushed back for his height. Sgt. Rachel Halaska of the Newburgh Heights Police emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, “We could have had three people lose their lives and honestly, if he would have got struck and it did worse damage, he could have ended up wrecking his car — and who knows how many other people we could have had injured or killed because of this.”…
