Cuyahoga County jail reopens veterans housing unit after COVID closure

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – The Cuyahoga County Corrections Center has reopened a specialized housing unit for veteran inmates after closing it during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sheriff Harold Pretel said the department had a space for veteran inmates before COVID but had to close it down during the pandemic.

He said he’s glad it’s now back open and hopes it gives veterans a second chance…
