18-Year-Old Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Vehicle on Guess Road in Durham as No Charges Are Filed Amid Ongoing Investigation

An 18-year-old pedestrian, identified as Iazias Davis, was fatally struck by a vehicle in north Durham last night. As reported by CBS 17, the incident occurred just before 7 p.m. near the intersection of Guess and Horton Road. Durham Police Department’s preliminary findings indicate that Davis was attempting to cross Guess Road when he was hit by a southbound vehicle.

Following the collision, Davis was transported to the hospital and was later pronounced dead. A juvenile passenger in the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was also taken to hospital for treatment. The southbound lanes of Guess Road were closed between Horton Road and Peppertree Street to allow officers to investigate the scene, as detailed by a statement obtained by ABC 11. At present, no charges have been filed while the investigation continues to actively unfold.

It was around 6:45 p.m. when the fatal accident transpired in the 3700 block of Guess Road. WRAL provided further details, stating that Iazias Davis was hit by a 2017 Honda Accord that was traveling southbound in the right-hand lane.
