The City of Alameda issued a traffic advisory warning that Island Drive would be temporarily closed for urgent sewer repairs. The closure, which was between Maitland Drive and Robert Davey Jr. Drive, was expected to last until the evening. Detour routes were provided for both southbound and northbound traffic. Southbound traffic was advised to use Robert Davey Jr. to Aughinbaugh Way to Mecartney Road, returning to Island Drive. Northbound traffic was advised to use Maitland to Harbor Bay Parkway to Doolittle, returning to Island Drive. The city warned residents to expect delays and to drive cautiously in the area due to the presence of work crews and heavy equipment.
