HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Rocket City stargazers, look up — one of the year’s most anticipated celestial events is putting on a show. The Leonid meteor shower is peaking this weekend, offering a chance to see bright meteors streak across the North Alabama sky.
The light show was captured by well-positioned home security cameras Saturday night.
According to the American Meteor Society, the best viewing window is late Saturday night into the early morning hours of Sunday. Conditions are favorable this year, as the moon will be just 9% full, leaving the sky dark enough for the meteors to shine.
