An official has proposed using volunteer Villagers in a new pool patrol here in Florida’s Friendliest Hometown.
Community Development District 1 Board Chair Rocky Hyder, at Friday’s meeting at Savannah Center, said he has been contacted by residents, both in CDD 1 and from elsewhere in The Villages, who are concerned that their stories about seeing outsiders at the pools are not being believed. Recreation Director John Rohan has vehemently maintained that non-residents’ unauthorized use of amenities, including pools and pickleball courts, is very rare or non-existent. However, he admitted this week he was feeling a “sense of urgency” from the Amenity Authority Committee and the Project Wide Advisory Committee, prompting him to propose an upcoming study at pools in The Villages, including four in the south and four in the north.
Rohan’s proposed study has already faced an avalanche of criticism, because it will be taking place in November and December, rather than in the heat of summer…
