ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Reconnect Rochester will honor motor-vehicle crash victims and their families Sunday on World Day of Remembrance in Rochester at Parcel 5. Participants will call on leaders across Monroe County to set safe speeds on streets across the Rochester area. A vigil and moment of silence will be held after the speeches from crash victims, victims’ families, and advocates.
Reconnect Rochester and families of crash victims will cover Parcel 5 in over 2,000 yellow flags and empty shoes to symbolize the lives lost and serious injuries from traffic crashes.
“The objectives of the World Day of Remembrance 2025 are to provide a platform for road traffic victims and their families to remember those lost on our roads, acknowledge the critical role of emergency first responders, advocate for better support for victims and their loved ones, and promote evidence based actions to stop road traffic deaths and injuries,” organizers said…
