Breaking records is always fun, especially when you are treated to lovely temperatures this late in the year. Today, record highs were set in Springfield, Joplin, and Harrison as we watched our thermometers surge to 80.
Sadly, this record warmth will not last long. A cold front is currently making its way through the Ozarks, slowly stripping away much of the heat.
Now, it won’t be too bad for Sunday, as the bottom doesn’t completely fall out. We will continue to stay above average for the majority of the week. However, highs will only peak in the upper 60s and lower 70s for the foreseeable future.
Skies will stay sunny with no concern for rainfall on Sunday. But once we get past Sunday, I can’t promise you’ll stay dry anymore.
Hit-or-miss showers are expected to develop Monday afternoon into the evening. Right now, I am keeping my eye on the chance of a few sub-severe thunderstorms developing with the potential to produce small hail.
Tuesday looks beautiful. Sunny and 70 with a noticeable breeze from the south. Make sure to enjoy it, as a wet-weather highway will set up to end the week.
Rainfall will kick off on Wednesday, and wet weather will linger for a few days. Given the current pattern, totals could be rather impressive. Two to four inches of rain will be possible this week, with the heaviest totals occurring along and south of the state line…
