Amarillo Police arrest man after traffic stop leads to a chase, multiple accidents Thursday

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Amarillo Police Department reports a late-night attempted traffic stop led to multiple hit-and-run crashes and the arrest of a 46-year-old man on Thursday.

According to APD, at around 11 p.m. on Nov. 13, an APD officer tried to stop a vehicle near 10th Avenue and Ross Street after noticing it was driving without headlights. The driver refused to stop, and the officer did not pursue in a chase.

Officials said a short time later, another officer working downtown spotted the same vehicle near 3rd Avenue and Polk Street. Police said a brief pursuit was initiated, but it was quickly called off due to the driver’s reckless behavior.

The APD release detailed that the suspect continued west and later crashed near Interstate 40 and Georgia Street after hitting several vehicles. APD stated that the driver then attempted to drive away from that wreck, but his car became disabled. Officials added that no injuries occurred…
