NATIONAL (KXRM) — A 71-year-old man from Colorado Springs was sentenced to 30 months in prison and three years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay over $8 million in restitution to the IRS after being convicted of tax evasion and conspiracy to defraud the United States.
On Tuesday, Oct. 21, U.S. Attorney David Metcalf of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Pennsylvania, announced Rodney Ermel’s sentence following an indictment in March 2024 and an April 2025 guilty plea.
Court documents indicate that Ermel owned and managed a Colorado-based accounting firm, where, along with co-defendant Kenneth Bacon, he conspired with co-defendants Joseph LaForte and Lisa McElhone to hide approximately $20 million in income while providing accounting and tax preparation services for LaForte, his wife, McElhone, and their business entities…
