Air rescue underway after hiker overheats on Scottsdale trail

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — An air rescue is underway after a hiker overheated on a trail in Scottsdale on Saturday morning.

At about 11:15 a.m., first responders were dispatched to the Gateway Loop Trail on reports of a man in his 40s who was experiencing “severe heat exhaustion.”

Scottsdale and Phoenix Fire Department technical rescue crews found the man about 5.5 miles into the trail, and because of the harsh terrain and distance, they will use a helicopter to hoist and remove him from the area…
