Michigan comes out flashy but falls 1-2 at National Duels Invitational

The No. 11 Michigan wrestling team started Saturday off packing a punch, clinching six-straight wins to bury Arizona State and coast into the quarterfinals of the National Dual Invitational.

As the brackets tightened for the Wolverines however did the matches. But once the tournament transitioned into the quarterfinals, everything became a coin toss, and Michigan couldn’t secure enough of them. It finished 1-2 on the day and fell out of prize-money contention.

Michigan’s start looked effortless as six wins against the Sun Devils, punctuated by No. 14 redshirt freshman Brock Mantanona’s 15-6 major decision, brought the bench to life.
