BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — As a vigil was was ending Sunday for an 8-year-old boy who died in a DUI-related crash in east Bakersfield, a different driver suspected of DUI crashed into vehicles nearby.

The vigil was held Sunday evening near where young Xxavien Hernandez was struck as he was eating a meal with his father on Nov. 3. An alleged drunken driver, Andres Serna, lost control of the pickup truck he was driving at East California Avenue and Haley Street. Serna crashed through a fence and into a parking lot where Xxavien and his father were eating together.
Xxavien died the next day.
According to police Serna’s blood alcohol content was more than four times the legal limit. and he’s been charged with second-degree murder.
