HAMILTON, Ohio (WKRC) – Vera Keck, whose life has spanned more than a century of change, celebrated her 106th birthday Sunday with a party at her retirement community in Hamilton.
Keck was born and raised on a farm and attended a one-room schoolhouse before moving on to St. Mary’s School and Notre Dame Academy. She married her husband, Clarence Keck, in 1942. The couple were together for 43 years until his death.
Keck worked as a bookkeeper at Estate Stove Co. before joining her family’s business, Hogan Electric. She remained active throughout her life, riding horses well into her later years — even saddling up on her 102nd birthday. She continued raising cattle into her 90s and danced with the Murstein Line Dancers from the Hamilton Senior Center until she turned 100. The group once appeared on Bob Herzog’s “Dance Party Friday.”…
