DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — A 20-year-old man from Georgia is facing multiple felony charges after deputies say he attempted to smuggle a stolen firearm into the Douglas County Jail by hiding it in his body during booking. The shocking discovery, described by officials as one of the most bizarre and dangerous contraband attempts they’ve seen this year, was made during a search following the man’s arrest on unrelated charges.
Arrest and Strange Behavior During Booking
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect was initially arrested on outstanding warrants and brought to the county jail for standard processing. Deputies noticed the man acting nervously and displaying unusual physical behavior, which prompted them to conduct a more thorough body search before completing the intake process.
It was during this search that officers reportedly found a small stolen firearm concealed between his buttocks, authorities confirmed. The weapon was later identified as one that had been reported stolen several weeks earlier in a neighboring jurisdiction.
