SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — An elderly woman was found unconscious in San Francisco Bay Saturday around 5:32 p.m. as the San Francisco Police Department’s Marine Unit was responding to a different call, police said.
The woman was found in the water at Pier 43 near Jefferson Street and The Embarcadero in Fisherman’s Wharf.

The woman was “swiftly retrieved from the water,” SFPD said.
The woman was suffering from life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a local hospital by ambulance. Her current condition is not known at this time.

“The circumstances regarding how the subject entered the water remain unknown,” SFPD said. “The officers’ diligent efforts, rapid response, and lifesaving actions led to a safe and swift rescue.”
