SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Almost two dozen people have been convicted on charges related to a law enforcement sting dubbed “Operation Mic Drop,” the San Diego County District Attorney’s office revealed Thursday.

The operation started back in 2022 and centered around Mike’s Market in the Mountain View area of San Diego. Authorities say the store had become a hub for gang activity, fueling violent crime in the area — including robberies, assaults, drug sales, and murders — with more than 1,000 police calls reported.
Together the San Diego Police Department and the FBI uncovered connections between the market and local gang members.
According to their investigation, employees illegally allowed customers to use their food assistance cards (EBT) to withdraw cash. Then, customers would use that money to buy drugs from gang members. The scheme cost taxpayers over $2 million…
