Poway teen caught in Okla. after fleeing deputies faces gun charges

POWAY, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A Poway teen who fled from deputies earlier this week has been taken into custody in Oklahoma, according to an update from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say Cameron Johnson, 18, was arrested Saturday afternoon in Oklahoma City, just before 4:30 p.m. Johnson had been wanted since Tuesday, Nov. 11, after allegedly fleeing from sheriff’s deputies during an investigation into the negligent discharge of a firearm in Poway. Deputies searched for Johnson for several hours, but he managed to evade capture and the search was eventually called off.

On Thursday, Nov. 13, the San Diego Superior Court issued a warrant for Johnson’s arrest.

Sheriff’s officials say Oklahoma City authorities made contact with Johnson on Saturday and took him into custody without incident. He is expected to be booked into the Oklahoma County Jail before being extradited back to San Diego…
