Clarksville approves 14-day utility bill grace period as families recover from shutdown

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Even with the federal government shutdown officially over, the financial strain it caused is still being felt across Middle Tennessee — especially in Clarksville.

City leaders say many families are still working to catch up on basic expenses like water and gas. This week, the Clarksville City Council voted unanimously to give residents a little more room to breathe.

During a special session Wednesday, council members approved a new policy granting a 14-day grace period for Clarksville gas and water customers who need more time to pay their bill.
