National personal care company to close Knoxville location, laying off 132

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — As a consumer products company reports an overall sales drop, its Knoxville location is closing, leading to more than 100 people being laid off.

Edgewell Personal Care filed a WARN Notice with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, sharing that it will permanently close beginning June 1, 2026, with all activities to be completed by December 31, 2027. A total of 132 people will lose their jobs as a result of the closure.

According to a release from Edgewell Personal Care, the company’s fiscal year 2025 Net Sales decreased by 1.3%. The company is also selling its Feminine Care business to Essity, a health and hygiene company based in Sweden. The release does add that while growth was down for the year, an increase was seen in the fourth quarter.

“Edgewell announced that its Knoxville manufacturing location will close by the end of 2027 as part of a broader strategic business decision,” an Edgewell spokesperson said. “This will happen in phases, and we are focused on our employees’ wellbeing throughout this process. We are committed to working closely with state and local officials and providing transition support for our employees through free counseling services, resume assistance, interview preparation, tuition reimbursement for upskilling, and more.”…
