FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WZTV) — One week after Vanderbilt LifeFlight nurse and paramedic Allan Williams died in a helicopter crash in Wilson County, hundreds gathered Saturday to honor the 55-year-old who spent more than three decades risking his life in the sky to care for others.
Williams, a member of Vanderbilt University Medical Center LifeFlight crew based in Gallatin, died Nov. 8 during a flight that afternoon. LifeFlight team members, first responders, loved ones and friends paid tribute to his selfless career- a career colleagues say embodied courage, compassion and a deep commitment to patients.
Saturday’s memorial began with an honor walk, as a LifeFlight ambulance carrying Williams’ casket, and crew members departed Williamson Memorial Funeral Home in Franklin, walking to Rolling Hills Community Church.
