SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — San Diego community members gathered Sunday to honor neighbors killed in traffic crashes as part of World Day of Remembrance, a countywide effort calling attention to what advocates describe as a growing traffic-safety crisis.
This year, organizers with Families for Safe Streets San Diego and Circulate San Diego say about 147 memorial signs will be placed at crash sites from 2023 through 2025. Each sign marks a life lost on local roads.
According to Circulate San Diego, 538 people were killed in traffic crashes across San Diego County in 2023 and 2024. Families at Sunday’s event said those numbers represent more than statistics, they represent loved ones…
