BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) warns residents about scam calls where fraudsters pose as pharmacy employees to steal personal information.
BCSO posted on Facebook that they received reports of calls from people claiming to work with Walgreens or other pharmacies, asking for personal information to “update flu shot records” or confirm prescriptions.
The information these scam callers will ask for includes:
- Date of birth
- Address or Social Security number
- Insurance or Medicare details
- Prescription or medical account numbers
