Jackson councilman proposes ordinance to ban ties to illegal drugs

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson City Councilman Kenneth Stokes, Ward 3, said the city needs a new ordinance to bolster trust in local government. This comes after the arrests of more than a dozen law enforcement officers in the Mississippi Delta.

Following the FBI investigation into law enforcement officers accused of moving illegal drugs in the Delta, Stokes said city leaders must ensure public confidence.

“We’re going to spell it out in the ordinance in the City of Jackson, so that the public will not lose confidence in our employees, elected officials, or individuals doing business with the city,” he said…
