DENVER (KDVR) — A driver is accused of driving under the influence after he was pulled over for allegedly driving over 100 mph in Weld County.
The Weld County Sheriff’s Office said it recently pulled over John Maes Jr. after he was clocked on radar driving at 106 mph in a 65 mph zone on southbound Highway 85 north of Eaton.

The sheriff’s office said a deputy noticed a strong smell of alcohol from the vehicle and conducted a DUI investigation, which determined that Maes was driving under the influence.
Maes was arrested and is facing charges of:
- Driving a vehicle under restraint (revoked traffic)
- Failure to drive in a single lane (weaving-traffic)
- Speeding (20-24 mph over)
- Driving a vehicle while under the influence (misdemeanor)
