The City of South Gate Police Department had its hands full last week, tackling a spree of high-stakes crimes as detailed in their recent Facebook post. According to the department, the action kicked off on Monday, November 10th, with a chase into Los Angeles after a parolee wanted for murder led officers on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle before being apprehended.
The police were back at it by Wednesday, November 12th, this time being called to a Family Dollar store where, in a scene straight out of a heist movie, officers discovered an individual who had tunneled through the roof in an attempt to rob the place; the suspect was promptly arrested preventing further loss, and it was suspicious noises that tipped off the officers while responding to an alarm at the store.
As the week continued in this vein of dramatic confrontations, the department’s Crime Impact Team executed a major operation on Friday, November 14th. Tracking down a documented gang member wanted for a recent shooting in South Gate, the suspect was arrested in Ontario, and the seizure of two assault rifles and ammunition by the officers likely averted additional violence in the community…
