UVA researchers use community voices to combat gun violence across Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – University of Virginia researchers interviewed 60 people across the Commonwealth to understand why community violence occurs and how interventions could create safer, more connected communities.

“A lot of times when youth get involved with gun violence, it’s due to fear,” said Lucy Guarnera, assistant professor at UVA Institute of Law, Psychiatry, and Public Policy.
