Fort Wayne residents encouraged to clear leaves from roads ahead of rain

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – The Fort Wayne City Utilities Department is asking residents to keep raked leaves out of streets to help prevent street flooding ahead of forecasted rain.

A spokesperson for the department says when rain washes leaves into storm drains, they often block water flow and cause backups in neighborhoods.

Residents are asked to place their leaves in the park strip or behind the curb as they are awaiting leaf collection…
