More details emerge regarding US-131 crash

The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office has provided more insight into the Nov. 2 crash that killed Grand Valley State University student Marcell Oliver and three others.

The driver responsible for the crash, 38-year-old Grand Rapids resident Erin Louise Jones, was driving southbound in the proper lanes until she exited at 129th Ave. Jones stopped at the bottom of the US-131 northbound on-ramp for an “abnormal length of time” before making a U-turn and traveling in the incorrect direction up the ramp. She travelled southbound in the northbound lanes for approximately four miles before the collision occurred.
