ANDERSON, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Opening statements took place on Monday during the trial for two men accused of killing an 18-year-old in a shooting in Anderson County in 2022.
Imani Yasmine Sade Clemons was shot and killed, and two others were injured at Fairview Gardens apartments on Dec. 29, 2022.
Nigel Barner is facing the following charges:
- Murder
- (2 counts) Attempted murder
- (3 counts) Assault
- Possession of a weapon during a violent crime
- Discharging a firearm into a dwelling.
Mikial Ferguson was also charged in this shooting.
During opening statements, the state prosecution claimed over 20 rounds from an AR-type rifle were fired into an apartment, striking the victim. The rifle was stolen from an apartment beforehand.
The suspects’ defense team claimed shell casings found at the scene do not belong to the murder weapon and that there were no eyewitnesses at the scene…
