Court docs: Suspect told police shooting victims ‘had to become casualties’

INDIANAPOLIS – A man arrested in connection with a weekend double shooting spun a bizarre tale for police when he attempted to explain what happened.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers arrested 64-year-old Chandron Clark on preliminary charges of murder and attempted murder, according to jail records.

Officers were dispatched just before 12:30 p.m. Saturday to the 1700 block of Union Street, where they found two people had been shot.

One of the victims, a woman, survived, while the second, identified as 44-year-old Jason E. Griffin, died from his wounds. The Marion County Coroner’s Office ruled his death a homicide.
