OKEMOS, Mich. (WILX) – LorAnn Oils was officially founded in 1962 by Pharmacist and great grandfather Orin Grettenberger from the Okemos Drug Store. Over the years it has expanded in flavors and reach!
The oils they sell, like Peppermint Oil, Lemon Oil, Anise Oil were primarily used behind the counter by pharmacists for compounding medications and ointments. Home consumers would come to the pharmacy to ask for the oils and the pharmacist would have to prepare a small bottle by hand.
It was Orin’s idea to bottle them up in teaspoon-size bottles and sell them to pharmacies and other stores throughout the country…
