LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — National Collection Week for Operation Christmas Child, conducted by Samaritan’s Purse, is underway and looks to brighten the holiday spirit of children in need.
Samaritan`s Purse collects gift-filled shoeboxes, packaged with items such as toys, school supplies, and personal hygiene products, and donates them, hoping to “bring joy and hope to boys and girls who may have never received a gift of their own.”
Donations can also be delivered in packaging of a similar size to a shoebox. Drop-off locations can assist with additional packaging requirements.
“I believe that there is a blessing on both sides of the shoe box, not only for the children and their families, and their community worldwide, but also for the people here in the Lansing area,” said Area Coordinator Lisa Anders, who has been involved with the program for around 25 years…
