NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Full SNAP food benefits are finally being sent out to Tennessee families; however, some now fear ripple effects from the lapse in funding.
Signe Anderson, Senior Director of Nutrition Advocacy at the Tennessee Justice Center, said roughly 700,000 individuals receive SNAP benefits in the state. She was grateful to see funding restored but felt the program should have remained funded as it did during the 2018 government shutdown.
“We’re going to be on the lookout in the next couple of weeks to making sure that those benefits actually get through to people and also figuring out what kind of harm it did to families who may not have received their benefits until just now,” Anderson said…
