Pensacola trying to bring military shipbuilder and 2,000 jobs to Port of Pensacola

Pensacola is actively recruiting a military shipbuilding company in a project that is promising to bring 2,000 jobs to the Port of Pensacola.

Pensacola is asking Triumph Gulf Coast to back an $86 million grant as part of a $250 million project to build and outfit a new 400,000 square-foot ship building facility at the Port of Pensacola in a project given the economic development codename: “Project Maeve.”

The shipbuilding facility will be “capable of producing complex Navy ship modules” for larger shipyards and able to construct complete ships of up to 400 feet in length, according to a pre-application the city filed with Triumph Gulf Coast…
