Lancaster County Commissioners to hear request for change to alcohol sale hours

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Lancaster County commissioners will hold a public hearing Tuesday on a request from just outside the city that seeks to extend Sunday alcohol sales by a few hours.

Currently, on Sundays in unincorporated villages on Lancaster County’s rural edges — such as Emerald — beer cannot be sold before 9 a.m., and liquor cannot be sold until noon.

“If you’re in Hickman, you’re in incorporated Hickman,” Lancaster County Commissioner Matt Schulte said. “But Emerald is small enough they don’t have a city council, they don’t have a mayor. So they’re unincorporated Lancaster County and fall under the rules of the county.”…
