Breaux Bridge City Council Approves New Police Officer, Reviews Subdivision Dedication at October Meeting

On October 14, 2025, the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Breaux Bridge met at City Hall for their regular meeting. Mayor Ricky Calais led the session, which began with an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance. All aldermen—Ryan Breaux, Scotty Borel, Albert Menard, Neil Melancon, and Eddy LeBlanc—were present, providing a full quorum.

The council made changes to the meeting agenda. On a motion by Albert Menard, supported by other aldermen, the board added the reappointment of Kenneth LeBlanc to the SMEDA Board. They also voted to remove two items: a resolution to dedicate Debra Drive in honor of Russell Hanes and the introduction of Ordinance #2321 regarding the possible private sale of a vacant lot at 329 Berard Street. Councilman Scotty Borel requested to be excused during the meeting.

The board approved the minutes from the previous meeting held on October 21, 2025. The council then adopted a resolution to comply with the State of Louisiana’s Legislative Auditor requirements. They approved the Systems Survey and Compliance Questionnaire for submission to the auditing firm Kolder, Champagne, Slaven and Company, LLC.
